Surgeons and physicians are available for advice, treatment and care for all orthopaedic, trauma and sports conditions at your convenience.

Diagnosis
Their team members are trained to take a precise medical history and thoroughly examine the relevant joint. This will often produce a diagnosis which can be further investigated using x-rays, ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and arthroscopy.

X-rays - different views - arthritis, loose bodies, osteochondritis dessicans (OCD) Ultrasound - for swellings, bursa, quadriceps ruptures, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) Magnetic resonance scanning - for articular cartilage, menisci, ligaments Arthroscopy - usually once diagnosis has been made, allows for treatment.

Treatment
London Knee provides a comprehensive range of treatments for conditions that affect the knee.

1. Physiotherapy
Many knee problems can be treated with physical therapy, ice, rehabilitation and mobilization, some conditions, for example, torn cartilage, will require arthroscopic surgery.

2. Surgical treatments

  • Arthroscopy - meniscal tears, loose bodies, chondral injury
  • Ligament reconstruction
  • Fracture repair
  • Arthritis - high tibial osteotomy, Uncemented knee replacement, total knee replacement

Medical decisions on knee replacement options will take into account the patient’s age and general health and the severity of symptoms, as well as patient preference.

Their consultants can perform a total prosthetic replacement of the knee joint, including the patella if necessary and this is done under a general anaesthetic and requires up to 7 nights stay in hospital.

5. Revision of total replacement of knee joint
