Finding a UK Doctor
Have you been referred to a Private Doctor?
Or are you looking for Private Treatment or Surgery?
In this day of the internet and search engines, it is easy to find information on Doctors. Most doctors are becoming web savvy and you as a patient shouldn’t find it hard to identify doctors that may be able to help you. Most private Doctors in the United Kingdom have started publishing their own patient information websites, while others are featured on either hospital or NHS websites.
Over the course of the year, this site will try and add as many Private Doctors, hospitals and clinics as possible, so if you have found a service that is worth recommending, let us know.
In the meantime, simple ways of looking up your doctor is to submit their names to search engines, in most cases you should be able to see at least 3-4 sites that either have profiles on them or have full featured listings. Don’t panic if you cant find them – sometimes doctors don’t like having their information on the web, or the site on which they are featured isn’t just strong enough to come up on search engine results. Alternatively visit the Dr Fosters Guide (www.drfoster.co.uk) or the NHS site (http://www.nhs.uk/servicedirectories/Pages/ServiceSearch.aspx).
If you are looking for a doctor, but don’t know one by name, try and use the speciality as a search tool, but make sure to use words such as “London” ,“UK”, “private” etc – which would help you narrow down the results.
